Masters thesis paper was presented at UCLA's Teacher Education Program on the implementation of the theories of Noddings, Valenzuela and Freire as a means to transform a standards-based regimented classroom culture. Key components of this process (reflective practice and a problem-posing pedagogy) illustrate the possibilities of how teachers can use these frameworks to build classrooms on foundations of authentic care and shift teachers' and students' identities.  (Originally published in June 2013, UCLA.)
